We had a fantastic day at Middlesbrough Sports Village on Thursday, for our annual Sports Day. A different theme this year, to reflect our move recently to Vertical Mentor Groups (VMGs). Students competed as Countries grouped around our four Continents which are Asia, Oceania, Americas and Africa.

During the last two weeks tutors and tutees have been working hard to build new relationships as the new VMGs formed with each having students from Year 6 (to become Year 7 in September) right through to Year 11. There have been team-building challenges over the last fortnight regarding fact finding about new countries, displays and more.

It was lovely to see how many VMGs brought their country flags along, and themed their PE tops and facepaints to reflect colours during a great atmosphere of friendly competition and camaraderie!

A huge thanks to all the staff and students involved in the organisation and making the day such a success. From the music sound system, to the medical tend, to marshalls and crowd motivators, the teamwork was as fantastic as ever. A special thanks to Mr Daycomb and the PE for making the day possible.
