Xplore Summer Holiday Provision - 15 July 2021

Thu 15 Jul 2021

Introduction

The Department for Education has provided all local authorities with funding to deliver holiday clubs over the summer holidays for children. This comes from a national initiative known as the Holiday Activities Fund (HAF) programme.

These clubs, which include meals, are free at the point of use to children who qualify for benefits related free school meals.

Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Councils have arranged for providers to deliver clubs for children in this way over the summer. Our local programme of summer clubs is called Xplore Summer Club 21 and as a school we are keen to promote these opportunities to students and parents/cares so that those who are eligible can benefit from them. Their booking system is now open.

There are thousands of free places for children and young people currently eligible for free school meals. It is a fantastic opportunity for primary and secondary school-aged children to make friends and enjoy fun activities. They’ll develop new skills, participate in creative and physical activities, learn about food and cooking and enjoy free nutritious meals each day.

Details

Children can access the equivalent of four weeks’ worth of activities, throughout the summer holidays, including specific provisions available for children with SEND or additional needs, at no cost to parents who are eligible.

Xplore ‘Summer Club 21 offers four hours of activities with a meal, four days per week over four weeks.
