Covid Testing for Students

Tue 02 Mar 2021
Thank you to parents and carers who have provided consent for their children to access Covid-19 testing at the academy. All students (with consent) will be offered three Lateral Flow Tests from 4 March 2021.

Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are for those who are NOT showing symptoms of covid, so who may be asymptomatic. Please DO NOT come onto school site if you are showing any signs of Covid-19. You must self-isolate and book a tests by ringing 119. We are not able to test anyone who is showing symptoms of Covid-19. Please also be aware that students who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 90 days should not take an LFT test.

We have contacted parents (who have provided consent) to invite students in Year 9, 10 and 11 to come into school at an allocated time on Thursday 4 March for their first test.

Parents of students in Year 7 and 8 (who have provided consent) have been invited to come into school at an allocated time on Friday 5 March for their first test.

Please see below for information about where to go to access the testing site at Normanby.

As students return to the academy from 8 March, students will be offered their second and third tests on the following days:

Year 11 - Test 2 on Monday 8 March, Test 3 on Thursday 11 March
Year 10 - Test 2 on Tuesday 9 March, Test 3 on Friday 12 March
Year 9 - Test 2 on Wednesday 10 March, Test 3 on Monday 15 March
Year 7 and Year 8 - Test 2 on Thursday 11 March, Test 3 on Monday 15 March

Following each test, results will be emailed and text to the contact information provided on the consent form.

In the event of a positive result, academy staff will ensure students are supported and isolated until they can be collected by parents. Any close contacts of positive cases will be contacted and self isolation advice will be provided.

Following the three tests in school, home testing kits will be provided for students. Further information will follow regarding home testing in the coming days.

Please contact the academy if you have any queries or concerns regarding Covid testing.
