The Library, known as the Learning Resource Centre or LRC is currently undergoing a transformation and we are excited to welcome Mr Leedham as LRC Manager. We are currently sorting through the books and items in stock that will enable students to access for homework or their own reading pleasure. Our stock will consist of both fiction and non-fiction books.

Computer access will be available daily before school, and after school on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as at break for students to do research or complete their homework.

Mr Leedham actively promotes a lifelong love of reading with the students through various promotions held within the academy.

By encouraging students to read who are actively taking part in reading schemes,
Purchasing new book titles
By actively taking an interest in what the students are currently reading and suggesting other titles they may like to read.
Running events, projects and competitions in line with national Library Celebration days e.g World Book Day, National Poetry Day, National Libraries Day.
The Library is open from 8.00am until 2.30pm daily and until 3.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for Homework Club Enrichment. Students can access the Library as and when they need to on both of these days.

In September 2020 we will be introducing the Accelerated Reader (AR) scheme. This encourages Year 7, 8, 9 students to enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books that are available in the academy library, thereby supporting literacy in all areas of the curriculum.

Library staff and teachers have worked hard in promoting reading and understanding using books and online quizzes to ensure progression in the AR programme.

Students can take quizzes from home once they have finished reading a book by accessing the following website: Accelerated Reader.
