We are excited to be launching our latest ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition via the fantastic ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’, and online maths resource that all students have personalised access to.
When they log on, they can complete challenges and tasks to build up their mental maths score and gain points. Parents can of course ask to have a look over shoulders and check it is being done by sons and daughters! EVERYONE needs the critical skill of being able to quickly recall their basic 12 Times Tables, to speed up their mental arithmetic, and thus mathematical ability too. The more you play TT Rock Stars, the more points you get…
Starting this Saturday, each VMG tutor group will have been challenged to go onto TT Rock Stars and build up their individual points. Round One will thus run from Saturday 2 May until Friday 9 May. Each week, a VMG’s tutees will have their points combined, to try to beat their opposing VMG!
We are adding this Challenge to VMG Google Classrooms over the course of today and tomorrow, ready for Saturday’s start.
We will announce winners on social media, and keep the interest going. Please can all parents support us with this, encouraging everyone in the academy to keep their maths skills going in this way?
To log on, students go to ttrockstars.com and click on the Login option on the top bar. Select the School pupils option, and then type Outwood Academy Normanby when asked for the school name.
Students then use their username and password to log on. These have been personally emailed to each student by the Head of Maths, Mrs Charlton, using student GMail accounts. Students do need to log onto Google Classroom in the usual way and then select GMail to look for this email, if they do not know their TT Rock Stars login details.
If any student says they cannot log on to Google Classroom, to check their GMail, PLEASE can their parents visit our help page: www.normanby.outwood.com/home-learning that has videos to show exactly how to log on. Google Classroom log on details were given to all students via a sticker in their planners before closure, and were posted home via letters where students were not in that day. The process was demonstrated in Tutor time. There really is no excuse, and we’ve been using Google Classroom for months before the Covid-19 outbreak.
If the help videos, and quizzing your son/daughter for log on details still doesn’t work, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will give new log on details and instructions, ringing you to talk through if necessary.
Thank you. Let’s have some maths fun and see which VMG rises to the challenge the most!
